 Lisa M. Shumake-Wright is a native of the Madison-Mayodan area. She graduated from Madison-Mayodan High School in 1984. She attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, graduating in December, 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She received her license as a Certified Public Accountant from the state of North Carolina in 1990. Lisa’s career started in public accounting with the firm of McGladrey and Pullen in Greensboro, North Carolina as part of the audit staff. She has also held various positions in industry including textiles, printing and publishing, and construction. In 2001, she formed her own firm, Lisa M. Shumake, CPA, PC in Madison, North Carolina. Originally located in the Madison Center, her office is now located at 129 East Murphy Street in Madison, across from the Madison Public Library. Lisa is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. Lisa’s family is first and foremost in her life. She is married to Brad Wright and is the mother of Ethan, and has one stepson, Spencer. She is currently serving as a Town Councilwoman for the Town of Mayodan. She is a member of the Western Rockingham Chamber of Commerce, where she was president in 2005. She is a member of Mayodan Moravian Church, where she is a former Elder and Trustee, Sunday School teacher, and Youth Group leader. She is an avid reader and gardener.
